DMI Engineering (Pty) Ltd (“the Company”) is committed to complying with the provisions of the Protection of Personal Information Act, No. 4 of 2013 (“POPIA” or “the Act”). This includes the lawful collection, processing, and safeguarding of personal information provided by our customers.
Purpose of Collection and Processing
The Customer’s personal information, as defined in the Act, is collected and processed to:
- Verify and validate the identity and business credibility of the Customer;
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures;
- Prevent fraudulent, unlawful, or corrupt business activities;
- Fulfil contractual obligations and legal requirements.
All information will be collected and processed for legitimate business purposes, in accordance with the Company’s data protection policies and applicable
laws.
Consent and Disclosure
The Customer acknowledges and consents to the processing of their personal information by the Company, or any authorised third party acting on its behalf, for purposes relating to the administration, operation, and management of the Company’s business functions or in fulfilment of its legal obligations. In accordance with the Company’s trade credit insurance policy, personal information may be shared with Credit Guarantee Insurance Corporation of Africa Limited (CGIC), a licensed non-life insurer. CGIC will process such information for underwriting, policy administration, claims management, and related
insurance purposes, in line with their regulatory obligations.
The Company undertakes not to disclose any personal information to third parties except where:
- Required or permitted by law or regulation;
- Contractually necessary to fulfil its obligations;
- Mandated by its legitimate business operations.
Data Protection and Security
The Company will take all reasonable and appropriate measures to ensure that the personal information in its possession, or processed on its behalf, is stored securely, remains confidential, and is processed only for the purposes for which it was collected.
Accuracy and Responsibility
The Customer confirms that all personal information supplied is accurate, complete, and up to date, and undertakes to notify the Company immediately of any changes. The provision of false or misleading information may result in the suspension or termination of the business relationship.
